S-OIL Launches High Pour Point Immersion Cooling Oil 'e-Cooling Solution'

Global Server SA Product Utilization Demonstration Test Conducted to Verify Thermal Management Performance

Advancing into Next-Generation Thermal Management Solutions for Data Centers, ESS, and Automotive Batteries Increased

S-OIL (CEO: Anwar Al Hizazi) has launched the high flash point immersion cooling oil, ‘S-OIL e-Cooling Solution,’ targeting global markets including Korea and Japan.

S-OIL has completed the development of a new high flash point product with a flash point above 250℃. With this, S-OIL has established a product lineup ranging from low flash point to high flash point products, further strengthening its competitiveness in data center thermal management and energy efficiency sectors.

The high flash point product is especially expected to see demand in the Northeast Asian markets such as Korea and Japan, where hazardous materials safety regulations are strict. This is because large-scale data centers adopting immersion cooling technology require products that do not fall under regulations according to the Hazardous Materials Safety Control Act and Fire Services Act (flash point above 250℃).

S-OIL announced that it conducted demonstration tests of the high flash point product using servers manufactured by global top-tier server companies, confirming stable server operation and excellent thermal management performance.

Additionally, for low flash point products, S-OIL plans to strengthen its position in overseas markets by completing certifications with multiple immersion cooling system developers through Aramco’s subsidiary (Valvoline Global Operations).

Immersion cooling technology significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional air cooling methods, contributing to carbon emission reduction. It also eliminates issues caused by server hardware heat, dust, and moisture, reducing the risk of equipment failure and extending lifespan, thereby attracting attention as next-generation cooling technology for data centers both domestically and internationally.

With the rapid growth of AI and cloud computing leading to explosive increases in data processing volume and power demand, data centers are focusing on immersion cooling methods to contribute to thermal management and carbon emission reduction. Moreover, there is a high potential for expanded application in various industrial fields such as energy storage systems (ESS) and battery cooling.

An S-OIL representative stated, “The newly launched immersion cooling oil can be used not only in data centers but also in rapidly growing future industries such as electric vehicle batteries and ESS. S-OIL is currently conducting joint research with numerous partners and plans to continuously expand thermal management solutions across various industries.”
