Seocheon-Gongju Expressway 'Cheongyang IC' Renamed to 'Chilgapsan Interchange'

Cheongyang County in Chungnam Province announced on the 23rd that the interchange (IC) in Jeongjwa-ri, Cheongyang-eup, on the Seobu Inland Expressway, which is scheduled to be completed on December 9, will be named 'Cheongyang Nadeulmok', and the Cheongyang IC on the Seocheon-Gongju Expressway will be renamed 'Chilgapsan Nadeulmok'.

The county explained that the change in the expressway IC names is intended to prevent confusion for expressway users, as the new Seobu Inland Expressway IC is closer to Cheongyang County Office (4 km) than the existing Seocheon-Gongju Expressway IC (28 km).

Since February, the county has been reviewing the name change for the Seobu Inland Expressway, gathering opinions from the county council and conducting a resident survey, and in April requested a name change review from Korea Expressway Corporation.

As a result, on September 25, the county received notification that the 'Cheongyang IC' on the Seocheon-Gongju Expressway had been renamed 'Chilgapsan Nadeulmok'.

A county official stated, "Going forward, we will coordinate with Korea Expressway Corporation to complete the maintenance of related facilities such as traffic guide signs by December 8, and actively inform users of the name changes through traffic broadcasts and our website to minimize confusion."
