Dong-A University Chair Professor Kim Shin Donates 10 Million KRW to Law School Development Fund

“I will strive to further contribute to the development of law schools and the nurturing of future scholars”

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 21st that Kim Shin, a distinguished professor and former Supreme Court justice, donated 10 million KRW to the Law School Development Fund.

The donation ceremony was held on the 17th at the President's Office on Dong-A University's Bumin Campus, attended by President Lee, Professor Kim, and Song Si-seop, Dean of the Law School.

Professor Kim Shin said, "When I was a judge, I worked in the current Dong-A University Law School building. After retiring as a Supreme Court justice, I was given a great opportunity at Dong-A University, where I have published three books," adding, "Since the dean and students are all working hard, the atmosphere of the law school will be further revitalized, and I will continue to do my best to support it."

President Lee Hae-woo stated, "Having a distinguished professor who is a former Supreme Court justice is a great honor for the university. Our law school consistently produces not only lawyers but also prosecutors and law clerks," and added, "Thanks to the dedication of our members, various indicators have improved, and since we have been selected as a glocal university, we will work even harder for the development of the school."

Born in Busan, Professor Kim Shin passed the 22nd Judicial Examination in 1980 and served as a judge at the Busan District Court and Busan High Court, chief judge at the Ulsan District Court, senior chief judge at the Busan High Court, and chief judge at the Ulsan District Court.

He served as a Supreme Court justice for six years starting in 2012 and joined Dong-A University as a distinguished professor in September 2018, nurturing future scholars. In 2022, he also donated 10 million KRW to the Law School Development Fund.

Since joining Dong-A University, he has actively engaged in writing activities, including special lectures for law school students and authoring works such as "Youth Asks and Supreme Court Justice Kim Shin Answers," "One Hundred Selected Cases of Breach of Trust," and "Several Misunderstandings about Breach of Trust."
