Ulju-gun to Fully Launch Daewoonsan Leisure Green Space Development Project

Establishment of Unmanned Local Produce Stalls

On the 15th, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City announced that it will actively promote the Daewoonsan Leisure Green Space Development Project in Unhwa-ri, Onyang-eup, utilizing the outstanding natural scenery and ecological environment of Daewoonsan.

Unhwa-ri, located at the foot of Daewoonsan, is recognized as a regional attraction boasting pristine natural environments such as the National Daewoonsan Healing Forest, Ulsan Arboretum, and Naewonam Valley.

This project will create a leisure green space with a total volume of 6,135㎥ in connection with the tourism resources around Daewoonsan. It was selected in the 2024 Development Restriction Zone Resident Support Project national funding application contest, securing 1 billion KRW in national funds (from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport), with a total project cost of 2.5 billion KRW.

Since the groundbreaking in May, Ulju-gun has collected residents' opinions on the project direction and local village issues, seeking solutions and reflecting them in the project.

The project aims for completion by June next year and plans to install leisure facilities (campgrounds) with rest and stay functions, along with unlicensed vending stands where local products can be purchased to increase residents' income within the surrounding development restriction zone.

According to the Daewoonsan Leisure Green Space Development Plan, Ulju-gun will proceed with the first phase of the project, including the construction of campgrounds to attract a living population, and then promote the second phase.

The second phase will establish various recreational facilities such as a scenic plaza, sports facilities, and a community market, as well as income-increasing facilities for residents to coexist with the local community.

An Ulju-gun official stated, “Starting with the Daewoonsan Leisure Green Space Development Project, we will create an attractive and distinctive recreational space reflecting new tourism trends so that the Daewoonsan area can become a nationwide healing destination.”
