Hwanggeumnae and Bongjesan Neighborhood Parks, etc.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is creating and pilot operating shelters for pet owners and their dogs. There are a total of three newly established dog shelters: one at Hwanggeumnae Neighborhood Park and two at Bongjesan Neighborhood Park.
The dog shelter in Hwanggeumnae Neighborhood Park covers an area of 99㎡ and is located behind the soccer field of the Gayang Sports Center. At Bongjesan Neighborhood Park, two shelters have been set up: one 72㎡ shelter behind the multipurpose field and another 62㎡ shelter near the Mugunghwa Badminton Court. These shelters will be operational starting from the 16th.
Each dog shelter is equipped with waste bag dispensers, portable fences, and resting facilities for guardians. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. To provide a safe play environment, only dogs registered with animal registration can enter accompanied by their guardians. Dogs must wear a leash when entering and leaving. Guardians are required to bring waste bags and leashes, and children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Usage is free of charge.
The district will pilot operate these dog shelters for six months and will decide on continuous operation based on user feedback. Although Gangseo-gu has about 39,000 registered dogs, ranking third in Seoul, facilities for dogs in the area have been insufficient.
Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon stated, "We have established dog shelters to create a friendly environment where pet owners and their pets can be together," and added, "We hope users enjoy pleasant and convenient facilities to spend joyful time with their pets."
Meanwhile, the district will hold an opening ceremony for the dog shelter at Hwanggeumnae Neighborhood Park at 3 p.m. on the 18th.
