Toss Securities has appointed Kim Gyubin, head of products at Toss Securities in his 30s, as the new CEO. On the 10th, Toss Securities announced at the shareholders' meeting that Kim would be appointed as the new CEO. The company explained that this decision was made to strengthen influence as an investment platform and to expand services.

Born in 1989, the new CEO Kim graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. After founding the mobile futures service 'Nanojo' in 2012, he worked at eBay Korea and Toss (Viva Republica) before joining Toss Securities as a Product Owner (PO) in January 2022.

Since then, he has been credited with leading service innovation by launching real-time fractional trading of overseas stocks and advancing the Toss Securities community. Last year, he contributed to achieving quarterly profits by generating a net profit of over 1.5 billion KRW.

Earlier this year, he laid the foundation for Toss Securities' services by launching overseas bond trading services and the web-based stock trading service (WTS) called 'Toss Securities PC.'

Currently, most CEOs of domestic securities firms were born in the 1960s.

Kim Seonghyun, CEO of KB Securities, who has led the company since 2019 and established himself as a 'long-serving CEO,' was born in 1963. Oh Ikgeun, CEO of Daishin Securities, who succeeded in his third term earlier this year, was also born in 1963.

Samsung Securities appointed Park Jongmun as CEO in March, expecting company innovation and growth through his extensive business experience and management know-how. Park, born in 1965, joined Samsung Life Insurance in 1990 and has been regarded as a 'strategist' for devising business strategies for Samsung's financial affiliates.

Other CEOs born in the 1960s include Jang Wonjae of Meritz Securities (born 1967) and Kim Seonghwan of Korea Investment & Securities (born 1969).
