The Appearance of Jebudo Drastically Changes... Hwaseong City Announces Winning Design for Park Development Project

The landscape of Jebudo in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, a representative West Coast attraction in the Seoul metropolitan area, is set to change dramatically.

Hwaseong City announced on the 10th that it has selected the entry from JW Landscape Co., Ltd. as the winning design in the design competition for the Jebudo Neighborhood Park development project.

This project involves creating a neighborhood park covering 10,593 square meters in Jebudo. The city held a design competition to find the optimal development plan that harmonizes with Jebudo’s natural environment, scenery, and regional context.

Eleven entries were submitted to the competition, and a judging panel composed of experts including university professors selected five outstanding works in the first round of judging on the 25th of last month, followed by the final evaluation on the 30th of the same month.

The winning design was praised by the city for enabling natural access from the beach to the park, offering sunset views from various observation points, and proposing a park boundary spatial plan that allows organic connections with the surrounding commercial areas. JW Landscape, the winner, will be granted the rights for basic and detailed design, while other prize-winning entries will receive compensation.

The city plans to sign a contract with the company within this month, complete the design service by April next year, commence construction thereafter, and aim to complete the project by December next year.

Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "We expect the winning design to serve as a landmark for western Hwaseong and provide a distinctive space symbolizing Jebudo." He added, "We will do our best to reflect sufficient public feedback during the design process and meet the high interest of citizens."
