The Budget and Accounts Special Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council (Chairman Na Gwang-guk) began a two-day workshop for committee members in the Muan-gun area starting on the 22nd.
This workshop was organized to strengthen communication and ensure effective operation of the Budget and Accounts Committee, as well as to facilitate diverse information sharing ahead of the review of the 2025 budget proposals from Jeonnam Province and the Provincial Office of Education.
Han Tae-sik, director of the Local Finance Research Institute, was invited as a professional lecturer to help deepen understanding of the budget proposal process of local governments and the principles of budget review, and to check key points that need to be focused on during budget examination.
Na Gwang-guk, chairman of the Budget and Accounts Committee (Muan 2), stated, “Through this workshop, we will actively exclude budget cases involving misuse, as well as budgets prepared through customary practices and tricks,” adding, “We will do our best with the committee members to become a Budget and Accounts Committee trusted by the residents by conducting reviews that meet fairness and common sense from the perspective of the residents.”
Kim Tae-gyun, chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, said, “I expect that all budget committee members will strive to discover projects that are practically helpful to the residents based on a deep understanding of the budget through this workshop,” and added, “We will continue to support the continuous training of council members and staff to strengthen legislative capabilities and vigorously support regional development.”
Meanwhile, the Budget and Accounts Special Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, consisting of 20 members including Chairman Na Gwang-guk, plans to review the second supplementary budget proposal and the 2025 main budget proposal submitted by Jeonnam Province and the Provincial Office of Education during the upcoming 2nd regular session.
