Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the '2024 2nd Nowon Youth Forum' to create a Nowon where young people can freely challenge themselves and grow.
The Nowon Youth Forum is a public discussion platform designed to activate youth participation and discover youth-tailored policies, allowing young people themselves to propose and discuss policy ideas.
The most distinctive feature of the Nowon Youth Forum is the way the topic is selected. Like participating in a simulation game, participants imagine the situation of "waking up as the mayor of Nowon-gu" and consider which policies they would choose. The final topic is selected by reflecting the stories of about 250 participating young people evenly.
This forum, with the theme "Nowon Where Dreams Can Grow," which was finally selected in June, will be held on August 30 at 7 p.m. in the main auditorium on the 2nd floor of Nowon-gu Office. Discussions will focus on policies supporting startups and side projects (side jobs) that can help youth growth.
The detailed program consists of ▲a lecture by a related expert ▲group discussion time ▲on-site preference voting on policy ideas. In the first part, Park Shin-hoo, CEO of the stationery brand ‘Oroliday,’ which has many young loyal fans, will share his startup experience and know-how in Sanggye-dong. After the lecture, in the second part, groups will share stories about life in Nowon and exchange ideas on what policies are needed for a better neighborhood.
Applications for participation in the Youth Forum are open until August 22, and any young person aged 19 to 39 who lives or is active in Nowon-gu can participate. Detailed information on how to apply can be found on the Nowon-gu Office website or by accessing the QR code on the poster.
Meanwhile, the '2024 1st Nowon Youth Forum' was successfully held on August 9. Under the theme "Gathering Together for a Joyful Nowon," the forum discussed policies supporting local small groups, resulting in various opinions such as ▲training for group leaders to operate safe communities ▲collaboration with external community experts ▲support for meeting spaces ▲establishment of a local group promotion system.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "Through this forum, we expect to discover policy ideas containing the voices of young people themselves and to expand youth participation in district administration," adding, "I hope this will be a meaningful occasion where the voices of young people are reflected in practical policies."
