Specialized Service Bid Announcement
Korea Airports Corporation will embark on establishing a mid- to long-term future development strategy reflecting the rapidly changing environment, including the surge in air travel demand after COVID-19, acceleration of next-generation technologies in the 4th industrial revolution, and the emergence of alternative transportation modes.
Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 6th that it has begun this work. The plan is to focus its capabilities on quickly overcoming the management crisis caused by the COVID-19 situation and on creating a new value system and implementing management innovation that can proactively respond to changes.
First, in line with the increasing trend of international air passengers, the corporation will strengthen the core functions of airports, such as expanding airport facilities. It also plans to prepare measures to expand the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) X-ray, vein pattern security authentication payment services, big data, and digital twin across overall airport operations.
Reflecting national policy tasks in the identity of the corporation, which operates 14 airports nationwide including Gimpo, Gimhae, and Jeju, it will develop specialized concepts for each airport and establish strategies to revitalize regional airports as tourism platforms.
Additionally, while continuing the corporation’s core projects such as the commercialization of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and the KAC-Building Information Modeling (BIM) project, it will newly discover growth businesses that will lead innovation in the domestic aviation industry. It will also carry out internal management strengthening tasks such as advancing revenue improvement plans and establishing contingency plans to prepare for changes in domestic and international aviation policies and industry trends. Furthermore, it will concretize action plans for sustainable growth and development, including carbon neutrality and ESG management.
The bid announcement for the professional service contract to establish this mid- to long-term management plan will be open until the 19th. Lee Jeong-gi, Acting President of Korea Airports Corporation, said, "Through a new management strategy encompassing major internal and external changes in the management environment, we will strengthen future competitiveness and solidify our position as a leading airport operation specialist group that leads the global aviation industry."
