Gyeonggi Province is introducing various services utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for the elderly and foreigners.

On the 31st, Gyeonggi Province held a mid-term report meeting for the "Gyeonggi Generative AI Data Platform Preliminary Consulting Project" at the Gyeonggi R&DB Center's main conference room, announcing plans to promote voice-operated kiosks to assist the elderly who find kiosks difficult to use, as well as AI medical consultations for the elderly and foreign workers.

The Gyeonggi Generative AI Data Platform Preliminary Consulting Project is a project aimed at supporting efficient integrated management of data, the core foundation of the AI era, and expanding AI adoption, with a total budget of 400 million KRW.

Gyeonggi Province, in collaboration with various institutions, is promoting services such as a "voice-operated kiosk" for the elderly and disabled, "AI medical consultation" for the elderly and foreign workers, and an "AI Bookbot" service that allows children and parents to find books using natural language.

The AI medical consultation is designed as a preliminary examination stage rather than an actual diagnosis, allowing users to consult with AI to identify possible illnesses based on their symptoms and linking them to actual hospital visits.

Once the demonstration services begin, Gyeonggi Province expects qualitative improvements in residents' lives across various fields, including alleviating the elderly's difficulties in using kiosks, improving medical accessibility, and enhancing convenience in library use.

Additionally, efficiency in youth policy consultations using AI and activation of data utilization through AI search and one-click analysis services of Gyeonggi Province's open data are also anticipated.

Jung Yeon-jong, Director of the AI Future Administration Division of Gyeonggi Province, expressed expectations, stating, "Through the establishment of the generative AI data platform, we will lead the practical application of AI technology in various fields, from services closely related to residents' lives to administrative work improvements, and verify its practical value."
