President Yoon Suk-yeol congratulated the Korean women's archery team for achieving the remarkable feat of winning their 10th consecutive Olympic gold medal in the team event, stating, "Being number one in Korea means being number one in the world."

On the morning of the 29th, President Yoon posted on his social media (SNS) Facebook message, "I send warm applause to national representatives Lim Si-hyeon, Jeon Hun-young, and Nam Su-hyeon, who accomplished the great achievement of winning the 10th consecutive Olympic gold medal in the women's archery team event," adding, "I was on the edge of my seat, cheering until the very last shoot-off shot."

He emphasized, "Although none of the three athletes had Olympic experience, they overcame the Korean national team selection, which is said to be more difficult than any other competition, and once again proved that 'being number one in Korea means being number one in the world.'"

President Yoon said, "There have been many joyful news during the weekend at the Olympics," and added, "Fencer Oh Sang-wook won the first gold medal for Korea in this Olympics in men's sabre, and in the women's 10m air pistol shooting event, Oh Ye-jin and Kim Ye-ji achieved the remarkable feat of sweeping the gold and silver medals."

He continued, "In the men's 400m freestyle swimming, Kim Woo-min stood on the podium for the first time in 12 years as a Korean swimmer."

President Yoon stated, "I am truly proud of all 143 members of the Korean national team who are working hard, shedding sweat and tears," and added, "As always, believe in yourselves and do your best. I wholeheartedly support Team Korea."

Earlier, the Korean women's team, consisting of Lim Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University), Nam Su-hyeon (Suncheon City Hall), and Jeon Hun-young (Incheon City Hall), defeated China 5-4 in the final of the women's team archery event at the Paris Olympics held at Les Invalides in Paris, France, on the 28th (Korean time), winning the championship.

Korean women's archery has won this event every time since the team event was first introduced at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, achieving the remarkable feat of 10 consecutive victories.
