"‘Present and Future, Coexistence of People and Nature'... Jungnang-gu Declares Sustainable Development Vision"

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) held the ‘Jungnang-gu Sustainable Development Vision Proclamation Ceremony’ on the 2nd.

The Sustainable Development Vision Proclamation Ceremony was organized to share with the residents the district’s commitment and direction to promote sustainable development unique to Jungnang-gu, which aims to preserve the environment for future generations while improving the quality of life for Jungnang residents.

The ceremony was made more meaningful by the participation of the Jungnang-gu Sustainable Development Committee, residents involved in the Jungnang-MGoS (Major Stakeholder Group) deliberation forum, and the Future Generations Participation Group, all of whom worked together to establish the basic strategies, goals, and select the vision.

The sustainable development vision unveiled by the district on this day is “Jungnang where the present and future, people and nature coexist.” At the ceremony, the district read the vision declaration and pledged to work together with residents for a sustainable future.

Additionally, 17 sustainable development goals to be achieved by 2045 were also disclosed.

The main goals include ▲strengthening self-reliance and mutual care through customized welfare policies ▲creating a healthy care city combining housing, leisure, and exercise ▲achieving carbon neutrality through eco-friendly energy production and consumption ▲and a city where people, nature, and animals coexist harmoniously.

Starting with the proclamation ceremony, the district plans to actively promote 17 implementation tasks, 43 unit projects, and 107 detailed projects to realize the Jungnang-gu sustainable development goals.

Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said, “It is meaningful to share the first official step toward creating Jungnang where the present and future, people and nature coexist with the residents in one place,” adding, “We will do our best to achieve sustainable development unique to Jungnang-gu that harms nothing and excludes no one by uniting the hearts and intentions of the residents.”

Since last May, the district has enacted the Jungnang-gu Sustainable Development Basic Ordinance, formed the Jungnang-gu Sustainable Development Committee in August, and in November and December, conducted the Jungnang-MGoS deliberation forum and online opinion gathering from future generations (youth and young adults) to collect residents’ opinions.

In March of this year, the district also held the ‘Jungnang-type ESG Practice Best Case Contest’ to encourage residents to participate in sustainable development. The contest called for cases practiced by individuals or groups in daily life, selecting a total of seven groups, who were awarded at the proclamation ceremony.

The Jungnang-gu Housewives Environmental Volunteer Group, which is actively engaged in various activities for 2050 carbon neutrality, won the grand prize. In addition, organizations such as Myeonmok Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Sinhyeon Middle School, and Yangwon Forest Library received excellence and encouragement awards, sharing diverse practical cases across various fields.
