First 'Public Transportation Policy Committee' Meeting of the Year Held on the 19th
Mayor Kim Bora: "We Will Strive to Expand Metropolitan Buses to Seoul"
On the 19th, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province held a regular meeting of the 'Public Transportation Policy Committee' and a certificate awarding ceremony for appointed members in the situation room on the 2nd floor of the main building.
The 'Public Transportation Policy Committee' is composed of transportation experts, representatives from transportation companies, and civic groups in accordance with the Anseong City Passenger Automobile Transportation Business Management Ordinance. It deliberates and resolves matters related to the direction of public transportation policies, financial support for transportation operators, operation of the city bus public management system, and handling various public transportation-related complaints.
At this year's first meeting, the committee deliberated and resolved ▲ additional selection of routes for the city bus public management system ▲ changes to the 7-8 circular bus routes in public road areas due to apartment move-ins and urban planning road openings ▲ and improvement plans for courteous service by transportation workers.
Meanwhile, Kim Bora, Mayor of Anseong City, conducted an on-site inspection of the usage status and difficulties of the metropolitan bus at the Hankyong National University starting stop the day before, marking the first anniversary of the operation of Anseong's first metropolitan bus, route 4401. The 4401 metropolitan bus began its first operation on June 20 last year from Hankyong National University to Seoul Maehun Citizen's Forest and Yangjae Flower Market, and since February 29 this year, the route has been extended to Gangnam Station on the Shinbundang Line.
The city explained that the route has an average daily ridership of 2,100 passengers and a maximum of 2,500 passengers. Although a low-floor bus with a capacity of 70 seats has been operating since April, there is a growing need to increase the number of buses on Fridays and Saturdays due to a shortage of seats.
Mayor Kim said, "We have proposed to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport the establishment of a new Anseong-Songpa route, an increase in the number of 4401 buses, and the additional deployment of double-decker low-floor buses to meet the increasing demand," adding, "We will continue to strive to improve the metropolitan bus usage environment and the quality of public transportation services."
