District Mayor Ilhyung Lee: “We Will Expand to a Digital Logistics Service Involving All Traditional Markets in Cheongnyangni Area”
Dongdaemun District Mayor Ilhyeong Lee, along with Baek Wonkuk, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, visited Cheongnyangni General Market on the 7th to check the operation status of the ‘Woori Market Fast Delivery’ service and spent time communicating with market merchants to hear their voices from the field.
On this day, Mayor Lee and Vice Minister Baek experienced the entire process from purchasing goods at the market to delivery by directly collecting delivery items using an electric cart. During this process, they conversed with merchants to listen to their suggestions and then moved to the merchants' association office to hold a meeting with the merchants.
At the meeting, discussions were held on expanding support for the ‘Woori Market Fast Delivery’ service and improving the efficiency of the delivery service. Mayor Lee stated, “Traditional markets are an important pillar of our local economy, and we will expand the ‘Woori Market Fast Delivery’ project so that it becomes a digital logistics service involving all traditional markets in the Cheongnyangni area.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Woori Market Fast Delivery’ project is a 2022 digital logistics service demonstration project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, providing parcel delivery services to customers who purchase goods at traditional markets. It is currently operating in three markets: Cheongnyangni General Market, Amsa General Market, and Noryangjin Fish Market.
