Young Cultural Festival Set Against Jirisan and Seomjingang Background
On the 1st, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that the 2024 Culture Day Corner-to-Corner Cultural Delivery event, ‘Seomjingang Culture Leisure Park,’ was held at Gurye Seosicheon Sports Park.
This event was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Jeollanam-do, and Gurye-gun to provide cultural content and leisure activities that harmonize with the local natural environment. It was organized by the Regional Culture Promotion Agency, Jeonnam Cultural Foundation, and Jaraneun Community.
Nearly 500 youths, young adults, and families participated in the event, enjoying a lively cultural festival in nature.
At the cultural leisure playground made with rope play in the pine forest, children’s lines never ceased, and family participants continued to visit the natural art course and the artistic soban cooking program ‘Birds’ Table with Picture Book Author O Chigeun,’ which involved making leisure snacks.
Additionally, various art markets and events such as ‘Dopamine Explosion, Street Karaoke,’ participated in by youths and young adults, further energized the atmosphere with youthful energy.
Choi Seok-woo (age 30), CEO of Jaraneun Community, which organized the event, said, “We created a cultural space for young people together with those who create local culture, arts, and leisure activities, but I did not expect so many people to gather. It is very meaningful that ordinary people, not event professionals, came together to create a pillar of local culture.”
Gim Sun-ho, the county governor, said, “We plan to continue promoting various projects so that residents can easily access and enjoy culture in their daily lives, and we will actively cooperate with private organizations to expand residents’ cultural enjoyment rights and improve their quality of life.”
‘Seomjingang Culture Leisure Park’ is scheduled to continue on the last weekend of Culture Day week every month at Seosicheon Sports Park in Gurye-gun on June 29, August 3, August 31, September 28, and November 2.
