How to Look 10 Years Younger Than Your Peers?

Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the "2024 2nd Immortal Lectures" at 3 p.m. on June 28th in the main auditorium of the Nowon-gu Citizens' Hall.

The Immortal Lectures is a representative lifelong education project of the district that invites prominent figures from various fields such as humanities, health, science, and popular culture to discuss contemporary issues and personal life stories. Since its inception in 2019, it has hosted physicist Kim Sang-wook, Korean history lecturer Choi Tae-sung, art critic Yoo Hong-jun, among others.

This year’s second Immortal Lecture will be delivered by Professor Jeong Hee-won of the Geriatrics Department at Seoul Asan Medical Center under the title "Designing a Life of Aging Slowly."

Professor Jeong Hee-won, author of "Habits of Aging Slowly," is a geriatric health expert who has appeared on broadcasts such as tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," "Secrets of Life and Death," and "Sebasi," raising awareness about elderly health and the importance of aging prevention, topics that were relatively unfamiliar in Korea.

In this lecture, Professor Jeong will introduce specific "slow aging" lifestyle methods based on her rich experience and cases gained while working as a geriatrician, explaining how to wisely manage aging in the era of longevity, maintain youthfulness, and lead a healthy and vibrant life.

While it is easy to focus on short-term goals such as immediate pleasure or comfort in life, over the long course of life, those who neglect their body and mind may face a painful old age. This lecture will provide an opportunity to consider how to design elements of life according to the life cycle to achieve a fulfilling aging process.

Residents wishing to participate can register online starting June 3rd via the district office website or register on-site from 2 p.m. on the day of the event. Online registration is limited to 500 people, and on-site registration is limited to the first 100 people. Seating is free without assigned seats.

The district will provide sign language interpreters for residents with language and hearing disabilities, and for those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live on the district’s official YouTube channel, "Mihongssi."

Additionally, a survey will be conducted immediately after the lecture for attendees, and residents’ preferences will be maximally reflected in selecting topics and inviting lecturers for the Immortal Lectures scheduled for the second half of the year.

Meanwhile, at the first 2024 Immortal Lecture held in April, docent Jung Woo-cheol, familiar to the public through numerous cultural programs, gave a lecture titled "Vincent van Gogh ? The Painter of the Brightest Passion," which received great acclaim from the residents.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "The Immortal Lectures are a special opportunity to share life wisdom with prominent figures of our time," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide high-quality lectures on various topics that reflect the learning desires of our residents."
