'Figures Who Shined at Jeonju High' Jo Seok & Lee Young-sung... Nosong Honorary Award to Kim Ui-shin, Lee Dae-kyung & Nam Min-woo

Jaegyeong Jeonju High School and Bukjung Alumni Association announced on the 22nd that they selected Cho Seok, CEO of HD Hyundai Electric (Class of '53), and Lee Young-sung, advisor of Hankook Ilbo (Class of '56'), as the "Figures Who Illuminated Jeonju High School" on the 19th in celebration of the 105th anniversary of Jeonju High School's founding.

Cho Seok, a traditional bureaucrat, turned around a company that had a deficit of about 100 billion won in 2018-2019 to profitability within one year of his appointment. This year, operating profit is expected to reach 400 billion won.


Lee Young-sung joined Hankook Ilbo in 1987 and served as editor-in-chief and publisher (CEO), and has been serving as an advisor since 2022.

At the 1st 'Nosong Honorary Award,' the Jaegyeong Jeonju High School and Bukjung Alumni Association announced that Kim Ui-shin, professor at Seoul National University Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology (Class of '37), was selected for the Volunteer category; Lee Dae-kyung, chairman of JRMD LLC, a real estate investment management company in Seattle (Class of '44), for the Global category; and Nam Min-woo, chairman of Dasan Networks (Class of '57), for the Startup Management category.


Professor Kim Ui-shin is a world-renowned authority in cancer treatment. Even in his eighties, he leads efforts to improve the quality of life for cancer patients. After working for 32 years at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the top cancer hospital in the United States, he retired. Currently, he stays in Seoul for three months each in spring and autumn as a visiting professor at Seoul National University Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology and the Department of Nuclear Medicine at the College of Medicine.


Chairman Lee Dae-kyung settled in Seattle in 1977, founded a shipping and vessel-related service company, and grew the company to achieve the "American Dream."


Chairman Nam Min-woo is a first-generation IT venture entrepreneur. He founded an internet access communication equipment company in 1993, contributing to South Korea's leap to a high-speed internet powerhouse.


The awards ceremony will be held on the 23rd at the regular general meeting of the Jaegyeong Jeonju High School and Bukjung Alumni Association.
