On the 17th, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, received the Grand Prize for the 12th consecutive year in the apple brand category with "Cheongsong Apple" and the Grand Prize for the 5th consecutive year in the city brand category with "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun" at the '2024 Korea Representative Brand Awards Ceremony' held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul.
At the '2024 Korea Representative Brand Awards Ceremony,' 'Cheongsong Apple' won the grand prize in the apple brand category for 12 consecutive years, and 'Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun' received the grand prize in the city brand category for 5 consecutive years.
The Korea Representative Brand Awards is a prestigious award that objectively assesses brand competitiveness by conducting strict and fair brand preference surveys targeting consumers who directly purchase and consume brands. This year marks the 19th edition of the awards.
In the apple brand category, apples from eight local governments, including Cheongsong Apple, were nominated. However, consumer survey results showed that "Cheongsong Apple" received the highest consumer selection in all categories such as initial awareness, secondary recognition, differentiation, reliability, leadership, quality, and loyalty, winning the grand prize.
With this, Cheongsong Apple has won the grand prize in the apple category for 12 consecutive years.
Known as Korea's best apple, "Cheongsong Apple" consistently presents consumers with high-quality apples every year through continuous development and dissemination of cultivation techniques.
Cheongsong-gun plans to further strengthen the competitiveness of Cheongsong Apple by supporting high-density, multi-trunk future orchard saplings, micro-sprinkler devices for fruit trees, isolation support for low-grade Cheongsong Apples, distribution of stem-cut-free Cheongsong Apples, and pilot production and distribution of leafless Cheongsong Apples.
Additionally, by establishing a Golden Apple Research Complex, producing a standard cultivation manual for golden apples, collecting data, building an integrated weather and pest control center to respond to abnormal climate, establishing a microbial culture system, and operating a seedling research lab and demonstration test plots, Cheongsong-gun is dedicated to research and dissemination of cultivation techniques for the next 100 years of Cheongsong Apple.
In particular, the Cheongsong Golden Apple "Hwanggeumjin," developed in 2017, features a bright golden color with a sweetness of around 14 Brix and a unique refreshing taste different from Fuji apples, increasingly captivating consumers' palates.
Alongside Cheongsong Apple, "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun," which has established itself as a strong brand, won the grand prize in the city brand category for the 5th consecutive year. Eight local governments, including "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun," were nominated for the city brand, but consumers chose "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun."
The city brand "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun" well represents the identity of Cheongsong-gun, which boasts a clear and pristine natural environment. "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun" is a nature-themed city brand symbolizing a space rich in high-quality oxygen and phytoncides emitted from clean and dense forests, providing rest and healing to modern people tired of daily life.
The county utilizes the "Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong-gun" city brand, which evokes healing and rest due to its cleanliness and clarity, to enhance the value of Cheongsong-gun agricultural products and revitalize the tourism industry.
