Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk held the final report meeting for the "Yeongyang Intercity Bus Terminal Operation Improvement Plan and Basic Design Study" on April 9th in the county office's large conference room, chaired by County Governor O Do-chang. The meeting aimed to present solutions for stabilizing the operation of the Yeongyang Intercity Bus Terminal, which has deteriorated due to population decline, route reductions, and the impact of COVID-19.
This study began in November last year, and after a mid-term report meeting in March this year, various measures for operating the Yeongyang Intercity Bus Terminal were reviewed.
Subsequently, the final report meeting was held to establish a concrete plan.
The 'Urban Management Research Institute,' which conducted the study, analyzed and reviewed various operational measures by dividing them into environmental analysis of the Yeongyang Intercity Bus Terminal, feasibility of public operation, basic design for terminal complexification, review of related projects, and procedures for land acquisition and expropriation.
To ensure stable operation of buses, which are the main means of transportation for the elderly population, and to provide transportation welfare services, Yeongyang-gun planned various measures to revitalize the Yeongyang Intercity Bus Terminal, including public acquisition of the existing terminal, commercial facilities, and public office facilities as part of terminal complexification.
Governor O Do-chang stated, "We will fully reflect the various opinions presented at today's final report meeting to identify the problems of the terminal and objectively derive the necessity of public operation, so that the Yeongyang Intercity Bus Terminal can operate without inconvenience to the residents of Yeongyang-gun and contribute to the local community. We will promote a customized intercity bus terminal project that fits the circumstances of Yeongyang-gun."
