Mental Health Prevention Project... 50% Support for Counseling Fees
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) Gangseo-gu Mental Health Welfare Center (Director Song Hyun-chul) announced on the 5th that it will implement a ‘Mental Health Prevention Project’ to provide psychological counseling services to public officials and school staff suffering from emotional labor.
Many public officials face mental health difficulties due to malicious civil complaints and work-related stress, but there was no proper counseling support system in place, which led to the establishment of this project.
The ‘Mental Health Prevention Project’ is designed to support psychological counseling services for public officials suffering from emotional labor, identify high-risk groups for mental health issues, and prevent the onset of mental disorders. The target beneficiaries are public officials working in civil complaint-related departments within the district and school staff employed in local schools.
The center classifies the recipients into clinical groups requiring psychiatric treatment and non-clinical groups needing psychological counseling support through consultations with psychiatrists. For the clinical group, treatment institutions are recommended, and registered mental health services are provided to support symptom management and daily life recovery. The non-clinical group can receive psychological counseling services through designated specialized counseling institutions.
Currently, the designated specialized psychological counseling institutions are Hello Smile Co., Ltd. and Hug Mom Hug In Co., Ltd. When receiving counseling at these institutions, the district supports 50% of the counseling costs for up to five sessions.
Director Song Hyun-chul stated, “We will expand the project so that more people can access mental health services in the future.” For more detailed inquiries, please contact the Gangseo-gu Public Health Center’s Health Management Division or the Gangseo-gu Mental Health Welfare Center.
