Inspection of the Main Stadium Construction Site for the Sports Festival Underway
Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, inspected the construction site of the Gimhae Sports Complex, the main stadium for the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games to be held in Gimhae this October.
On the afternoon of the 4th, Governor Park visited the construction site with Hong Tae-yong, Mayor of Gimhae, to check the progress and thoroughly inspect the site.
The 105th National Sports Festival in 2024 will be held for seven days from October 11 to 17, and the 44th National Para Games will take place for six days from October 25 to 30, centered in the host city of Gimhae, with designated venues across 18 cities and counties in the province.

The Gimhae Sports Complex, the main stadium for both events, is being built on a total area of 68,370㎡ with 15,000 seats, consisting of five underground floors and three above-ground floors, and is scheduled for completion in May.
Currently, the steel roof structure and parking building finishing works are underway, with a construction progress rate of 87.3%.
Governor Park stated, “The main stadium is the face of the event and the first image of Gyeongnam that participants and spectators from all over the country will encounter.” He added, “Especially before events with large crowds such as the opening ceremony, thoroughly prepare by predicting the flow of spectators and vehicles and establishing response measures to ensure no inconvenience to citizens.”
Gyeongnam Province plans to produce a differentiated opening and closing ceremony that embodies “Korea running again with Gyeongnam” at this festival.
In addition, the province is focusing on creating a satisfying event for both athletes and spectators by utilizing local tourism resources for the torch relay, holding cultural events reflecting Gyeongnam’s unique characteristics, and preparing transportation and accommodation measures.
