Which Regional Bank Offers the Highest Annual Salary?

Last year, the highest-paid employees among regional banks were found to be those at BNK Financial Group's subsidiaries Gyeongnam Bank and Busan Bank, as well as DGB Financial Group's affiliate DGB Daegu Bank.


According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 24th, among the six regional banks (Gyeongnam, Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, Jeonbuk, and Jeju Banks), employees of Gyeongnam, Busan, and Daegu Banks received an average annual salary of 112 million KRW last year, the highest among regional banks. Following them, employees at Gwangju and Jeonbuk Banks earned 101 million KRW, and Jeju Bank employees received an average salary of 86 million KRW.


For Gyeongnam Bank and Daegu Bank, the figures rose by 1.8% and 3% respectively from 110 million KRW and 101 million KRW in 2022. In contrast, Busan Bank's average salary decreased by about 5.1% from 118 million KRW. The highest salary growth rate was recorded by Daegu Bank (10.9%).

Which Regional Bank Offers the Highest Annual Salary?

The highest average salary for male employees was at Gyeongnam Bank. Their annual salary per person last year remained the same as in 2022, at 136 million KRW. Busan Bank ranked second (131 million KRW), followed by Daegu Bank (129 million KRW). Next were Gwangju (122 million KRW), Jeonbuk (108 million KRW), and Jeju Bank (97 million KRW). Daegu Bank showed the highest increase rate of 9.3%, rising from 118 million KRW in 2022.


Female employees at Daegu and Busan Banks had the highest average salaries among regional banks. Female staff at both banks earned an average of 95 million KRW last year. They were followed by Jeonbuk (92 million KRW), Gyeongnam (89 million KRW), Gwangju (84 million KRW), and Jeju Banks (70 million KRW). Female employees at Daegu Bank recorded the highest salary increase rate of about 14.5% compared to the previous year.


The average annual salary per employee across the six regional banks was 104 million KRW. This represents an increase of about 2.3% from 102 million KRW in 2022. The average salaries for both male and female employees also rose. In 2022, the average salary for male employees at the six regional banks increased from 117.5 million KRW to 120.5 million KRW. Female employees' salaries also rose from 85.8 million KRW to 87.5 million KRW. However, the gap between male and female employees widened slightly. In 2022, the difference was 31.7 million KRW, but last year it increased to 33 million KRW.
