Automatic enrollment for Geumcheon-gu residents and registered foreigners
Support within a limit of 500,000 KRW per person for outpatient medical expenses and 10 million KRW per person for funeral expenses
Outstanding efficiency with a 214% insurance payout rate
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has achieved significant results by providing 'Resident Safety Insurance' to all residents since last year.
The Resident Safety Insurance is a system in which the insurance company contracted with the district office pays insurance benefits for medical and funeral expenses to residents who suffer injury or death accidents in daily life.
It does not overlap with the coverage items of Seoul Citizen Safety Insurance and can be supported in conjunction with personal indemnity insurance, resulting in high satisfaction among residents.
The insurance contract period is from July last year to June this year, and as of the end of February 2024, insurance benefits of 116 million KRW have been paid for 342 injury cases. The insurance premium paid by the district office was only 54 million KRW, demonstrating excellent efficiency with a 214% insurance payout rate.
Residents registered in Geumcheon-gu, registered foreigners, and foreign nationals with domicile reports can be automatically enrolled and receive benefits without separate procedures.
The coverage includes medical expenses such as emergency costs, treatment fees, surgery fees, hospitalization fees, or death caused by injury accidents occurring domestically. The coverage limit is 500,000 KRW per person for medical expenses and 10 million KRW per person for funeral expenses.
Payments are restricted in cases supported by traffic accidents, diseases, old age, infectious diseases, industrial accidents, public official accidents, and liability for facilities. However, traffic injury accidents in child protection zones (under 12 years old), elderly protection zones (65 years and older), and injuries caused by personal mobility devices (shared/rental and privately owned) are covered.
Insurance claims can be submitted to the Resident Safety Insurance Reception Center within 1 year from the date of the accident by attaching the necessary documents within the claim period (3 years).
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope the Resident Safety Insurance provides some comfort and help to residents who suffer unexpected accidents in daily life,” and added, “We will continue to operate safety insurance to create a safe Geumcheon-gu where residents can live with peace of mind.”
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Resident Safety Insurance Reception Center or the Resident Safety Division of Geumcheon-gu Office.
