Son Kyung-sik, chairman of the Korea Employers Federation, has been re-nominated as the next chairman.

According to industry sources on the 15th, the Federation held a board meeting and re-nominated Chairman Son as the candidate for the next chairman. The regular general meeting scheduled for the 21st will confirm Chairman Son's reappointment.

With this, Chairman Son is likely to be reappointed for the fourth time since assuming the position in 2018. The term for the Federation's chairman is two years, with no limit on reappointments.

Member companies reportedly supported his reappointment, recognizing Chairman Son's efforts in representing corporate interests to the government and the National Assembly. In his next term, Chairman Son is expected to focus on labor hour flexibility and related issues.

Executive Vice Chairman Lee Dong-geun is also expected to be reappointed. Vice Chairman Lee was appointed by Chairman Son in 2021 and has served as the full-time executive vice chairman. Previously, Vice Chairman Lee worked alongside Chairman Son for seven years as the full-time executive vice chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry when Son served as its chairman.
