Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is resuming the 'Usan District Stormwater Retention Facility Project.'
The installation work for the stormwater retention facility was originally scheduled for completion last year but was halted due to design defects such as insufficient crane space for installing retention tank materials. A total of 14.5 billion KRW will be invested.
The district diagnosed the causes of issues that arose during the construction phase and, after consultations with related agencies, prepared reinforcement measures considering structural stability and ease of construction.
Next month, through a review by the Technical Advisory Committee, the district plans to quickly complete the technical verification of the reinforcement measures and finalize design changes and other improvements.
An official from the district stated, "We will firmly and swiftly resume the project to dispel concerns about delays in the stormwater retention facility construction and to resolve the frequent flooding damage in the Usan-dong area."
