Gyeonggi-do to Recruit 111 River Valley Guardians Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province is recruiting 111 'River and Valley Guardians' this year to monitor illegal activities in rivers and streams.


Since 2020, Gyeonggi Province has been operating River and Valley Guardians who patrol local rivers to assist river managers in monitoring activities aimed at eradicating illegal acts within river zones.


This year, their roles include river monitoring and patrolling, managing disaster risk factors and illegal activities, and maintaining the river environment. They will also help visitors to rivers and valleys access and enjoy these areas more easily, as well as install banners to guide the eradication of illegal activities.


The recruitment will be conducted by hiring 110 people in 21 cities and counties with rivers and valleys, such as Goyang-si, and one person to oversee them, all employed by Gyeonggi Province.


Any resident of the relevant area aged between 20 and under 65, who is physically healthy and capable of outdoor activities, can apply.


Women, youth unemployed registered at the Gyeonggi Employment Center, and low-income individuals will receive additional points during the interview process. The employment type is fixed-term, with the activity period from March to October 2024. Compensation will follow the 2024 Gyeonggi Province living wage (KRW 11,890 per hour).


The application period for Gyeonggi Province recruitment is until January 23, and recruitment by cities and counties will be completed by February. Park Seong-sik, Director of the River Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through the River and Valley Guardians project, we aim to eradicate illegal activities in rivers and valleys and create public jobs."
