On the 28th, Judge Jeong In-jae, the warrant judge at the Seoul Western District Court, conducted a pre-arrest detention hearing for Jeong Mo (37, male), who is accused of obstructing official duties with violence, and dismissed the arrest warrant for Jeong.

The court stated, "It is difficult to conclude that there is a risk of flight, and considering that evidence of the charges has been secured by the investigative agency, there is no necessity for detention at this stage." Although the seriousness of the crime was acknowledged, the fact that Jeong admitted to the crime and showed remorse, as well as the absence of casualties, were also taken into account.

Jeong is accused of causing a stabbing commotion in a residential area of Galhyeon-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, starting around 7:26 p.m. on the 26th. The police, who responded to the report, confronted Jeong, who was armed with a knife, for about 2 hours and 30 minutes before persuading and arresting him at 10:05 p.m. The police seized a total of eight knives, including six found in Jeong’s bag.

After the pre-arrest detention hearing that morning, Jeong, when asked by reporters whether the crime was committed due to financial issues, tearfully replied, "It wasn’t about money, I was upset. My mother gave 3 million won to a shaman, which made me upset and I shouted, but a citizen reported it, and so many police came that I got scared."

When asked why he stopped taking medication for his mental illness, he said, "I don’t think I have a mental illness, and as long as I don’t have stress related to cooking, I never caused any problems while working as a delivery worker or substitute driver." He added, "I think this happened because I was upset about not having trust in people and not having anyone around me," and promised, "I won’t do such things anymore." When asked if the crime was planned, he answered, "As a cook, I inevitably carry a lot." Jeong stated that he had no intention of self-harm and admitted to the charges.
