About 50 students from Pukyong National University's volunteer groups, ‘Pukyong UN Supporters’ and the ‘Social Contribution Volunteer Group,’ supported the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' ‘UN Forces Participation Day and the 70th Anniversary of the Armistice Ceremony’ held on the 27th.
The Pukyong University student volunteers assisted attendees, including UN veterans and their descendants, Korean War veterans, citizens, and military personnel, by providing guidance and support at the ceremony held in the afternoon at the Busan Haeundae District's Busan Cinema Center.
Before supporting the ceremony, the volunteer students participated in a ‘Veterans and War Site Pilgrimage’ event, where they shared meals with veterans and personally pinned merit badges on them to express their gratitude, engaging in patriotic activities.
Students from the Pukyong National University volunteer group are providing support activities and taking commemorative photos at the ceremony held at the Busan Cinema Center.
Kim Hyun-seo, the representative student of the volunteer group who participated in the event, said, “The reason South Korea has developed so remarkably is thanks to the precious and noble sacrifices of the UN, the participating countries, and the veterans.” He added, “We will carry on this noble spirit and engage more actively in peacekeeping activities.”
The Pukyong UN Supporters continue various activities to promote veterans' culture and to practice the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG). The Social Contribution Volunteer Group carries out activities in the local community by cultivating capabilities for ESG volunteer work and realizing social contribution values.
