Safe Dongdaemun-gu Free from Flood and Wind Damage through Thorough Preparation and Proactive Response
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, visited Jungnangcheon on the afternoon of the 11th to inspect the site in preparation for the ongoing rainy season and heavy downpours.
He walked along the Jungnangcheon riverside where the crape myrtle (Baekilhong) was in bloom and discussed flood and wind damage countermeasures with officials.
Following the issuance of a heavy rain warning for the Seoul area that day, the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters was placed on emergency duty Level 2 starting at 15:20.
The district is making every effort to protect residents' safety by implementing various summer flood and wind damage measures, including ▲ operating the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters composed of 13 task forces ▲ establishing a smart warning system for low-lying residential areas ▲ conducting pre-inspections of flood control facilities and vulnerable structures.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Safety can never be emphasized enough,” and added, “Although heavy rain is expected this year, we will create a safe Dongdaemun-gu free from flood and wind damage through thorough preparation and swift response.”
