On the 7th, Mayor Jang, who was nominated by Ha Seung-cheol, the mayor of Hadong County, participated in the challenge and delivered hometown love donation funds to five sister cities, including Saha-gu in Busan. During the challenge, he certified his donation and nominated Lee Gap-jun, the head of Saha-gu Office, as the next participant.
Jang Chung-nam, Governor of Namhae County, Gyeongnam, participated in the 'Hometown Love Donation Certification Challenge'.
The hometown love donation certification challenge was initiated by National Assembly member Han Byung-do, who spearheaded the 'Hometown Love Donation Act' to promote a voluntary donation culture following the implementation of the hometown love donation system. The challenge continues in a relay format, where the nominated donor certifies their donation with a photo and then recommends the next participant.
The hometown love donation system is designed to enhance local finances and revitalize the regional economy through the supply of return gifts. Individuals can donate up to 5 million KRW annually to local governments other than their registered residential address. Donors receive tax deductions (full deduction up to 100,000 KRW) and return gifts such as local specialties worth up to 30% of the donation amount.
The county provides donors with return gifts including processed agricultural products such as black garlic and citron syrup, processed seafood products, and local currency from Namhae County.
Mayor Jang stated, “Through this challenge, I hope to support mutual development among exchange cities and, furthermore, to encourage all citizens to participate in the hometown love donation system.”
