Dongjak-gu Simultaneously Opens the First Public Parking Lots No. 1 and 2 in Front of Sadang Station

Dongjak-gu, Seoul's Top Autonomous District in Proactive Administration... Expected to Revitalize Commercial Areas as an Innovative Case

Simultaneous Opening of Public Parking Lots 1 and 2 in Front of Sadang Station, Dongjak-gu

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) has created 65 public parking spaces at two locations in the Sadang area, which previously lacked parking spaces, and officially began operation on the 7th of this month.

The area is within 100 meters of Sadang Station, a transit hub, and has had no public parking lots, resulting in frequent illegal parking and stopping, as well as severe traffic congestion.

The newly created parking lots are located at ▲Sadang-dong 1042-22 (40 spaces) and ▲Sadang-dong 1044-15 (25 spaces), developed by discovering and utilizing idle private land.

Dongjak-gu signed an agreement with the landowners to use the land free of charge for over one year, providing property tax exemption incentives to the landowners.

An unmanned parking system has been installed for operation, with a fee of 400 KRW per 5 minutes. In particular, to revitalize nearby commercial areas, store customers can park for free for up to one hour.

Additionally, the district is creating resident-priority parking lots using small leftover lands to alleviate parking difficulties in densely populated residential areas.

These are located at ▲Noryangjin-dong 310-65 (11 spaces) and ▲Sadang-dong 1048-39 (5 spaces), where an ‘IoT sharing sensor’ has been installed to allow others to share parking spaces during times when the assigned resident-priority parking users are not using them.

Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, “This will not only resolve parking difficulties in the area but also contribute to revitalizing the local commercial district by providing free parking to store customers,”

and added, “We will continue to do our best through proactive administration to resolve daily inconveniences for residents.”
