On the 19th, according to Jung-gu District and the construction company GS Engineering & Construction, the district conducted a detailed safety diagnosis on a total of 12 buildings, including the building with partially damaged walls, and found no safety problems with the buildings.
Earlier, on March 20, some marble on the pilotis (columns built to create an empty structure at the bottom of a building) wall of one building in Seoul Station Central Xi apartment was damaged.
A Jung-gu official explained, "The detailed safety diagnosis identified the cause as the load being applied to the wall due to the disconnected non-structural element (pilotis structure), which resulted in the wall damage."
Accordingly, the apartment will undergo repair and reinforcement work by installing new steel columns and reinforcing with steel plates and carbon fiber. The repair and reinforcement work will be carried out on all buildings, including the one with the wall damage.
Meanwhile, at 7:30 p.m. on the same day, a briefing session regarding the detailed safety diagnosis results will be held for the residents of Seoul Station Central Xi at the Jungnim-dong Community Center.
A GS Engineering & Construction official said, "We plan to listen to the residents' opinions at today's briefing," adding, "Once the residents' opinions are gathered, we will communicate with the residents' representative meeting and discuss compensation issues."
