Mercedes-Benz Korea announced plans to accelerate growth not only in electrification but also in luxury models such as the S-Class. At the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, new cars including Korea-exclusive models were also unveiled.

Thomas Klein, President of Mercedes-Benz Korea, said during a meeting with reporters on the morning of the 30th, “We will develop detailed strategies focusing on high-performance AMG lines, Maybach, and S·G-Class models.” He added that these models are currently growing in the Korean market. Thomas stated that Maybach ranked second worldwide in sales in Korea, the S-Class ranked third, and AMG ranked fifth. He also mentioned that electric vehicle sales have quadrupled compared to last year.

Despite the economic downturn, Mercedes-Benz said it aims to achieve its goals through its electrification strategy and other initiatives. Thomas said, “Rather than setting external targets, it is most important to properly achieve our own goals regarding the sustainability of our luxury brand and electric vehicles.”

On this day, Mercedes-Benz unveiled 11 vehicles at the 2023 Seoul Mobility Show, including one model making its Asian debut and five models making their domestic debut. The ‘Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC Virgil Abloh Edition,’ a collaboration between the late Virgil Abloh and Maybach, was revealed for the first time in Korea. This vehicle, limited to 150 units, aims to sell 20 units exclusively in Korea.
