Jeonjangyeon Activist Booked on Charges of Assaulting Subway Security Guard

On the 10th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced that they had booked and were investigating a Jeonjangyeon official, Mr. A, on assault charges from the previous day.

Mr. A is accused of assaulting subway security guard Mr. B at the Samgakji Station platform on Seoul Subway Line 4 around 9 a.m. the previous day. After being stopped by a Seoul Metro official from putting stickers on the platform, he reportedly struck Mr. B on the neck and back.

Mr. B was not seriously injured but immediately filed a complaint against Mr. A. The police are also investigating another Jeonjangyeon activist who was booked in January on charges of violating the Railroad Safety Act for ramming station chief Mr. Gu Ki-jung at Samgakji Station with a wheelchair.

Jeonjangyeon has recently continued protests by placing stickers on the walls and floors of the Samgakji Station platform. Seoul Metro is considering filing a damage compensation lawsuit, claiming damage to the station environment and cleaning costs.
