Han Chang-seop, Vice Minister of Public Administration and Security, Inspects Elementary School Commuting Routes Ahead of School Opening

Visit to the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Control Center

Han Chang-seop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, conducted a safety inspection of school routes around an elementary school located in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, in preparation for the start of the elementary school semester on the 26th, and visited the closed-circuit television (CCTV) control center.

First, Vice Minister Han checked the installation status of safety facilities such as guide signs, unmanned traffic enforcement equipment, and speed prevention facilities within the school zone designated as a children's protection area.

In particular, he emphasized continuous safety management and improvement regarding risk factors for children's traffic safety, such as sections without sidewalks, illegal parking, and construction sites near school routes.

Vice Minister Han stated, “Last year, a tragic accident occurred where a child walking home on a school route without a sidewalk in a children's protection zone at an elementary school in Seoul died. Strengthening traffic safety on children's school routes must be a collaborative effort between the government, local governments, and citizens.”

Afterwards, he visited the Paju-si closed-circuit television (CCTV) integrated control center to inspect the center's functions and operational status and to listen to suggestions for improvement.

Vice Minister Han said, “Closed-circuit television (CCTV) plays an important role in the safety of individuals and the social community in daily life,” adding, “We must integrate our excellent information and communication (IT) technology to increase the utilization of CCTV in disaster situations.”
