Seoul Kids OK Zone Expanded to 500 Locations

Last Year, 349 Stores Participated in Just Over a Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul City announced on the 12th that it will expand the ‘Seoul Kids (kids) OK Zone,’ which has received high praise from parents since its debut last year, to 500 locations this year.

The ‘Seoul Kids OK Zone’ is a business where all children are welcomed, and parents (caregivers) visiting with children can use the facilities comfortably. As part of the 'Mom and Dad Happiness Project' to create a child-friendly city, the city launched the ‘Seoul Kids OK Zone’ in December last year and has designated 349 locations so far.

Since Seoul City announced the launch of the ‘Seoul Kids OK Zone,’ the Restaurant Association and franchises such as Lotteria have actively expressed their willingness to participate, and within about a month of recruitment, 349 businesses were finally designated, establishing a stable implementation foundation.

Seoul City plans to expand the number of locations to 500 this year and increase it to 700 by 2026, supported by the active participation of these businesses and the positive response from parents. Additionally, starting this year, each participating ‘Seoul Kids OK Zone’ business will receive 300,000 KRW to purchase items that assist children’s meals, such as infant chairs and tableware. Support will be provided not only to newly designated businesses this year but also to those participating since last year.

In this regard, Seoul City will recruit additional ‘Seoul Kids OK Zone’ participating businesses through each autonomous district until March 20th. Information such as the location and address of the ‘Seoul Kids (Kids) OK Zone’ can be checked at a glance on the ‘Smart Seoul Map → Urban Life Map.’

Kim Seonsun, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Policy Office, said, “We initiated the Seoul Kids OK Zone to alleviate the unfortunate reality where going out with children is difficult due to no-kids zones.” She added, “We will continue to expand this initiative to ensure families have comfortable and happy outings and create a child-friendly city, Seoul.”
