A Total of 2.4 Billion KRW Donated by Sponsor Companies for the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Busan City Hall.

Attending the ceremony will be Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan; Jang In-hwa, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Park Eun-ha, Executive Chairperson of the Citizens' Committee; and representatives of sponsoring companies such as Shin Jeong-taek, Chairman of Sewoon Steel, and Hyun Seung-hoon, Chairman of Hwasung Group.

This donation follows the declaration last September when Busan, South Korea, officially entered the bidding competition by submitting the final application for the 2030 World Expo to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). Since then, many institutions and companies have shown support and encouragement for Busan's bid for the 2030 World Expo by participating in donations.

The sponsoring companies participating in this donation include Nexen Group (Chairman Kang Byung-jung), Sewoon Steel (Chairman Shin Jeong-taek), Dongil (Chairman Kim Jong-gak), Hwasung Group (Chairman Hyun Seung-hoon), Dongwon Development (Chairman Jang Bok-man), Kyungdong Construction (Chairman Kim Jae-jin), Samjung Enterprise (Chairman Park Jung-oh), Sungwoo Hitech (Chairman Lee Myung-geun), Golden Blue (Chairman Park Yong-su), DW International Logistics Center (Chairman Shin Han-chun), Mirae Asset Securities (Chairman Choi Hyun-man), Wooyang Industrial Development (Chairman Jo Hyo-sik), AUM Company (Chairman Kim Dae-cheon), and Kang Euigu, Head of the Busan Consular Corps, totaling 14 organizations. Each company donated between 100 million and 200 million KRW, amounting to a total of 2.4 billion KRW.

All secured donations will be delivered to the 2030 Busan World Expo Citizens' Committee. The committee will use these funds as resources for responding to the on-site inspection by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) scheduled for April. Additionally, the funds will support various projects aimed at consolidating public and citizen support for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid, including overseas negotiations and nationwide promotional activities.

The representatives of the sponsoring companies shared a common sentiment that hosting the 2030 World Expo in Busan will bring significant benefits across the economy and society, such as revitalizing the local economy through large-scale investments, creating new jobs, enhancing corporate brand value, and providing educational opportunities for future generations. They agreed that local companies should take the lead in such a meaningful global event and expressed their commitment by participating today as Busan Bid Backers.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun of Busan said, “I deeply thank the local companies that have participated in supporting the 2030 Busan World Expo bid again this year following last year,” and expressed his determination, saying, “Please join us in the new leap forward for Busan through the successful bid and hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo.”

He added, “With the on-site inspection by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in April and the host city selection vote in November approaching, it is a time to unite national capabilities and launch an all-out effort. I expect that the participation of local companies in supporting the bid will be a great help.”
