[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sacheon City, Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that three locations?Gwangpo Port in Songpo-dong, Ando Port in Gonyang-myeon, and Sangchon Port in Seopo-myeon?have been selected for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' 2023 New Vitality Promotion Project for Fishing Villages, securing a project budget of 25 billion KRW.

The New Vitality Promotion Project for Fishing Villages is a follow-up public contest project to the newly launched Fishing Village New Deal 300 by the current government. It aims to revitalize the fishing village economy and attract new residents to enhance the sustainability of fishing villages.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will invest a total of 30 trillion KRW over five years until 2027, implementing the project in three types: fishing village economic platform type, fishing village living platform type, and fishing village safety infrastructure improvement type. Each year, about 60 locations will be selected, totaling 300 locations.

Sangchon Port, located in Bito-ri, Seopo-myeon, will use the total project budget of 5 billion KRW to improve residents' living conditions by securing a wharf and installing fishermen’s rest areas and safety facilities.
