[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS25 announced on the 12th that it has signed a business agreement with Iksan Nonghyup to ‘develop differentiated products and revitalize the local economy.’


Through this business agreement, the two parties will promote ▲ joint development of K-desserts to boost rice consumption ▲ expansion of sales channels (GS25 and GS The Fresh) for Iksan Nonghyup’s fresh cream chapssaltteok ▲ joint campaigns to promote Iksan food products.


Iksan Nonghyup started a business manufacturing and selling rice cakes to improve the deteriorating income structure of local farmers caused by the gradual decline in rice demand. The fresh cream chapssaltteok has created new terms such as ‘Tteokpeunrun’ and ‘Tteokketting’ and has been selling out daily.


A GS Retail official said, “We will take the lead in transforming the high-quality rice produced in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, into new K-desserts to support local farms and the economy,” adding, “We will continue to expand exemplary cases where companies and local communities can coexist through our product development capabilities and know-how, including this agreement.”
