Ahn Cheol-soo: "A Specialized Cyber Counterintelligence Unit Must Be Established in the National Intelligence Service"

"Concerns as a Cybersecurity Expert Who Created V3"
On the Jeju Spy Ring Case: "The Democratic Party Regime's Lax Security Awareness"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Ahn Cheol-soo, a ruling party presidential candidate and member of the People Power Party, raised his voice regarding the 'Jeju Spy Group' case, stating, "We must restore the National Intelligence Service's counter-espionage authority and establish a specialized cyber counterintelligence organization."

On the 11th, Ahn posted on his social media (SNS), "Due to the lax security awareness of the Democratic Party administration, there has been a significant breach in our cyber counterintelligence," he pointed out, "North Korea abandoned the analog method of sending spies through mountains and fields long ago. As revealed this time, they cleverly combine underground organizations such as political parties, labor unions, and civic groups with offline intelligence operations."

He said, "As a cyber security expert who developed V3, I feel deep concern about the current situation," adding, "North Korea's cyber infiltration is very difficult to track and monitor, so securing specialized personnel with response technology is crucial. However, the Democratic Party administration abolished the National Intelligence Service's counter-espionage authority and also reduced the police's security investigation personnel."

He continued, "If I become party leader and make our party the majority in the next general election, I intend to first restore the National Intelligence Service's counter-espionage authority," and said, "I will establish a specialized cyber counterintelligence organization within the National Intelligence Service that is strengthened in all aspects including personnel, budget, equipment, and training, to actively respond to North Korea's cyber invasion."
