[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] On the 10th, Jeju Western Fire Station held a joint meeting with related organizations at the Hallim Oil Market Merchants' Association to strengthen fire prevention and autonomous safety management in traditional markets during winter.
According to Jeju Western Fire Station on that day, the meeting was hosted by the Western Fire Station and attended by about 10 people including representatives from Daejeong-eup Office, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and the Merchants' Association.
The meeting focused on spreading recent traditional market fire cases and educating on prevention measures for similar incidents, urging thorough operation of traditional market store inspection days, recommending installation of fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and detectors, and creating an environment for autonomous safety management by stakeholders, including pre-removal of fire causes in food hoods.
Chief Kim Young-ho said, "Due to the characteristics of traditional markets, it is difficult to extinguish fires when they occur, and there is a high risk of large-scale damage. We will do our best to create a fire-safe traditional market through the establishment of an autonomous fire prevention management system by market stakeholders, cooperation with related organizations, and fire prevention measures by fire stations."
