Retiring Brigadier General Kim Tae-wook, Dedicated to Military Readiness and Soldier Welfare
The change of command ceremony for the Commander of the Air Force 11th Fighter Wing is taking place.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Major General Gu Sang-mo (Air Force Academy Class 43) was inaugurated as the 38th Commander of the Air Force 11th Fighter Wing.
The Air Force 11th Fighter Wing announced on the 2nd that on the 29th of last month, the change of command ceremony for the 37th and 38th Fighter Wing Commanders was held at the K-2 Daegu Base, presided over by Major General Gong Seung-bae, Commander of the Air Combat Command.
The event took place with local officials and distinguished guests in attendance, proceeding with the reading of the personnel order and transfer of command.
Commander Gu Sang-mo, a graduate of the Air Force Academy Class 43, was commissioned as an Air Force Second Lieutenant in 1995 and has served as Chief of the Command and Management Division at Air Force Headquarters, Commander of the Aviation Operations Group at the 15th Special Mission Flight Wing, Director of Operations Planning at the Operations Command, and Director of Operations 3 at the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
In his inaugural speech, Commander Gu said, “I am honored to become the commander of the 11th Fighter Wing, which operates the most advanced F-15K fighter jets and maintains the highest level of combat readiness,” adding, “I will devote my utmost efforts to building a resilient wing that fulfills airspace defense missions under any circumstances.”
Major General Kim Tae-wook, the outgoing 37th Commander, is recognized for establishing fundamentals and principles during his two-year tenure and for his dedication to maintaining military readiness and improving the welfare conditions of service members.
