Wando-gun Opens 'Geumdang Happiness House' Senior Welfare Facility

Jihyeong Group Donates Newly Built Senior Care Shared Living Home Worth 450 Million Won

Wando-gun Opens 'Geumdang Happiness House' Senior Welfare Facility

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do held a completion ceremony on the 7th for ‘Geumdang Happiness House,’ a senior care group home facility (for fewer than 9 people) dedicated to protective services for the elderly.

This facility was promoted following a business agreement signed in June last year between Wando-gun, Jihyeong Construction, and the Jihyeong Community Association, and was completed this month.

Additionally, Lee Jeong-bae, chairman of Jihyeong Construction and a native of Geumdang-myeon, donated the facility as part of social work together with the Jihyeong Community Association. This is significant as it is the first elderly welfare facility in our county to receive a donation and handover.

A resident living in Geumdang-myeon expressed joy, saying, “There were elderly people who did not want to leave their hometown and lived receiving home care services despite physical discomfort, but now they can comfortably stay at a hometown nursing home.”

Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Despite the difficult economic situation due to COVID-19, I deeply thank Chairman Lee Jeong-bae for donating a building worth 450 million won,” and added, “We will do our best to operate this elderly welfare facility so that seniors can live comfortably, reflecting the chairman’s intentions.”

Chairman Lee Jeong-bae stated, “I hope this first donation of an elderly welfare facility by the Jihyeong Community Association will serve as a great motivation for philanthropists in Wando-gun so that the second and third facilities can be continuously established and operated.”

Meanwhile, the county is promoting various projects to realize warm and happy elderly welfare by expanding elderly care facilities by region and constructing welfare housing for the elderly, in response to the increasing demand for elderly welfare facilities due to the rise in patients with senile diseases such as dementia and stroke, and the diversification of welfare needs.

Geumdang Happiness House will be entrusted and operated by the Social Cooperative Cheonghae Welfare Center for five years until November 30, 2027.
