Accelerating Development of Experiential Industrial Tourism Content
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, has been selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's industrial tourism promotion project and is accelerating the development of experiential industrial tourism content.
According to Sancheong-gun, the "Sipjangsaeng Tour at Donguibogam Village," based on the herbal medicine industry, was selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's 2023 industrial tourism promotion project on the 7th.
This public contest was prepared to develop experiential industrial tourism content that allows learning about local industries and culture by utilizing companies and regionally specialized industries.
After project plan evaluations and on-site assessments, two local governments nationwide, including Sancheong-gun and Haenam-gun, were finally selected.
Accordingly, Sancheong-gun will officially embark on fostering the "Sipjangsaeng Tour at Donguibogam Village" content.
This content links Donguibogam Village and the herbal medicine market to develop an industrial tourism course imbued with the meaning of Sipjangsaeng, an icon of health and longevity.
Resources of Donguibogam Village such as Dongui Bon-ga Korean Medicine Clinic, the herbal medicine theme park, the experience market, and herbal medicine market resources like Byeolidang, Tangjeonwon, and herbal medicine combinations are connected.
In particular, by actively utilizing these resources, various content such as pre-health checks, Korean medicine medical programs, food experience events, mind-strengthening programs, and post-health checks will be operated.
Sancheong-gun plans to enhance completeness through consulting in the first half of next year and begin operation in September next year.
A county official said, "Sancheong-gun produces excellent medicinal herbs under its natural environment conditions and has resources such as Korean medicine companies, Korean medicine medical and experiential services, and the Korean herbal medicine festival," adding, "Through this, it is growing into a hub city for Korean medicine industrial tourism."
He continued, "Adding tourism to the Korean herbal medicine industry will double the synergy effect," emphasizing, "We will do our best to revitalize local industries and tourism industries through the development of new industrial tourism models."
