25th Anniversary of Eup Promotion, Goa-eup Village Mountain 'Jupjup' Climbing Competition ... Kim Jang-ho, Mayor of Gumi, Attends

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] “The 25th anniversary celebration of the eup promotion was done through 'Jupjup'.”

Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk, Goa-eup (Eupjang Kang Ho-geun) held the 'Goa-eup 25th Anniversary Promotion Commemorative Environmental Cleanup and Climbing Competition' from 10 a.m. on the 15th, organized by the Goa-eup Development Council. About 100 people gathered to hike Jeopseongsan and collect trash.

At the event, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho, provincial and city council members, heads of institutions and organizations, and residents attended to commemorate the 25th anniversary of becoming an eup, conducting environmental cleanup and a climbing competition around Jeopseongsan, a symbol of Goa, and fostering community harmony.

Jeopseongsan, with an elevation of 374 meters, is not a high mountain but offers a panoramic view of the entire Gumi. Participants enjoyed the event and hoped that Goa-eup would continue to prosper steadily, looking ahead to Gumi's development like Jeopseongsan.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho of Gumi said, “Congratulations on the 25th anniversary of Goa-eup's promotion. The driving force behind Goa-eup's development has been the residents' love for the region and their united spirit. We ask for continued cooperation for regional development.”

Goa-eup was consolidated as Goa-myeon in 1914 and was promoted to eup status on November 1, 1997, marking its 25th year this year.

With a population of 38,452, it is the third most populous area in Gumi and a mixed urban-rural city where various generations live. Geographically, it is located at the center of Gumi, a transportation hub, and is expected to see steady population inflow and development through urban development projects such as the Wonho district.
