Various Events Including Humanities Special Lecture, Actor Reading Performance, and Live Music Concert Arranged
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Jeonnam Gwangyang Central Library announced that it will hold a classical humanities concert, "Hidden Classic," at the Central Library Cultural Space Haru on the 30th.
"Hidden Classic" is a library "Humanities on the Road" planning program hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Library Association. Gwangyang Central Library was selected as one of five institutions nationwide to receive 10 million KRW in national funding.
This project, which uncovers hidden masterpieces of our time through the lens of the humanities, is prepared as a diverse and engaging concert featuring a special lecture by a humanities scholar, actor readings, live music performances, and pre-reader appreciation group activities, using the overseas masterpiece short story "Pharmacy" from Elizabeth Strout's collection Olive Kitteridge as material.
The concert and lecture, themed "Maze of the Mind, Path of Life," will be led by sociologist Professor Kim Chan-ho, with reading performances by actors Kim Jin-bok and Jo Eun, and musical performances by actors Cheol and Wi Jun.
Additionally, a pre-reader appreciation group will be recruited to participate in pre-surveys, work introductions, and theme talks, creating a concert made together with readers.
The "Hidden Classic" concert is open to all Gwangyang citizens.
Kim Mira, Director of Library Operations, said, "This concert was prepared to make humanities more interesting and accessible," and added, "We hope for the active interest and participation of citizens."
