In Less Than a Year, One Million People Walked the 'Haneul'... Pohang City Celebrates One Million Visitors to the Landmark 'Spacewalk' with a Commemorative Event

On the 17th, Pohang City announced that the ‘Space Walk,’ which has attracted global attention and emerged as a landmark of Pohang tourism, welcomed its one-millionth visitor at 6:15 PM on the 16th, just 11 months after its opening.

The lucky visitor was a foreigner. Ms. Siti Fatimah, an Indonesian national and research professor at Yeungnam University in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk Province.

Ms. Siti Fatimah was presented with a congratulatory bouquet made of Pohang’s city flower, roses, along with Pohang Love Gift Certificates and a ticket for the Pohang Canal Cruise.

This congratulatory event was a small celebration and commemoration for the one-millionth visitor of Space Walk, which has established itself as a new landmark of Pohang. Ms. Fatimah enjoyed the Space Walk experience along with her trip to Pohang that day.

Ms. Siti Fatimah said, “I am grateful for the joyful memories that Pohang Space Walk has given me, and I consider it a great fortune to be the one-millionth visitor,” adding, “I hope it becomes a wonderful tourist attraction that can welcome 10 million visitors or more in the future.”

Since its unveiling ceremony on November 18 last year, in just about 11 months?less than a year?Space Walk has become a new landmark of Pohang, attracting over one million visitors and gaining recognition overseas as a representative tourist attraction of Korea beyond Pohang.

The site is crowded with tourists from both domestic and international locations who want to experience the Space Walk. It has also been selected as the filming location for the ‘2022 Korea Tourism Global Advertisement,’ further establishing its status as a world-class tourist destination.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang said, “We will further enhance the Pohang Hwanho Park Space Walk, which has welcomed one million visitors, so that many more visitors can create joyful memories in the future.”
