Four members of the People Power Party?So Jae-kwon, Yang Eun-mi, Heo Sang-wook, and Son Ju-ha?announced that the 9th chairperson election of the Jung-gu Council of Seoul is invalid due to serious and obvious defects, and they plan to file a lawsuit to confirm the invalidity of the chairperson election. They also filed an injunction to suspend the chairperson's duties on August 23.

They claimed that during the plenary session of the Jung-gu Council of Seoul, which began on July 6, an unfortunate incident occurred due to the personal greed of council member Gil Ki-young in the process of electing the chairperson.

These council members stated that they tried to form a reasonable and efficient council through inter-party consultations to realize smooth dialogue and compromise politics that earn the trust of the residents when attending the session. However, around 5 p.m. on July 11, immediately after So Jae-kwon, acting chairperson, declared the third plenary session adjourned, three members of the Democratic Party, including Yoon Pan-oh, took advantage of So Jae-kwon's absence from the chairperson's seat to suddenly seize the chairperson's seat and illegally installed People Power Party member Gil Ki-young as chairperson, ultimately driving the Jung-gu Council of Seoul into chaos.

So Jae-kwon and three other People Power Party members pledged to normalize the chairperson group of the Jung-gu Council of Seoul and lead a democratic and rational council for the residents of Jung-gu.

Meanwhile, the Jung-gu Council has only elected Chairperson Gil Ki-young, Democratic Party Vice Chairperson Yoon Pan-oh, and Welfare and Construction Committee Chairperson Jo Mi-jung, with the positions of Operations Committee Chairperson and Administrative and Health Committee Chairperson remaining vacant.

The Jung-gu Council is scheduled to hold an extraordinary session on the 26th to elect the vacant standing committee chairpersons.

The Seocho-gu Council (Chairperson Oh Se-cheol) announced that at the 320th extraordinary session held on the 23rd, a by-election for the Operations Committee Chairperson was conducted, and Council Member Park Mi-jung (Jamwon, Banpo 1, 3, and 4-dong) was elected as chairperson.

This by-election was held following the resignation of the previous chairperson, Council Member Kang Yeo-jung, which was processed on the 18th.

Park Mi-jung, the newly appointed Operations Committee Chairperson, said, “I will actively support the council members' legislative activities through rational council management,” adding, “I hope to contribute, even if modestly, to the development of the district council together with my seniors and colleagues.”
