[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Corpus Korea (CEO Oh Youngseop) announced on the 12th that it decided to acquire Kim Jonghak Production to strengthen its content production business capabilities on the 11th.
The acquisition method is to acquire 100% of the existing shares of Kim Jonghak Production to secure full management rights. The expected final acquisition date is the 29th of this month.
Kim Jonghak Production, the acquisition target, was established in February 1998 and is one of the leading drama production companies in Korea, having produced about 70 hit dramas including "Full House," "The Legend," "I Can Hear Your Voice," "Okjoo-hwa," and the recent global OTT hit "All of Us Are Dead."
Regarding this acquisition decision, a Corpus Korea official stated, "Our company has been exploring various ways to strengthen production business capabilities with the goal of securing killer content rights and developing our own hit IPs. Although the production company acquisition project was not easy due to the recent significant improvement in the content production environment alongside the global success of K-content, the acquisition was successfully carried out with the expectation that our overseas distribution know-how combined with Kim Jonghak Production, which has produced numerous hits, will maximize our name value as a global content producer."
Regarding the current production business, the official said, "We have secured more than 10 production lineups based on our own planned works, and preparations for producing OTT original content are underway. In addition to the two works scheduled for production this year, three works are planned for next year's lineup, and with this production company acquisition, the production lineup will be expanded, making it possible to produce more than six works annually."
